The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty
Jenny Han

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They ate the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer-they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

"I absolutely loved this book. Belly spending her summers with Conrad and Jeremiah, and experiences new things. Let me get this straight tho. She doesn't actually turn pretty overnight. It's more like an inside beauty kind of thing. There are flashbacks to previous summers, and you can see how's she's grown over the years, which is cool. She meets old friends, and gets more confident with herself. I wish i could have a life, or just a summer, just like hers, and i would be very happy and even though I do wish she picked the other boy....This is a must read book." -PaperMovies, author of the ThePaperMovieProject.

"The Summer I Turned Pretty offers a hard-to-resist combination-a beach house, summer love, enduring friendship. A deliciously sweet read." - Deb Caletti, author of Honey, Baby, Sweetheart, and Wild Roses.

"A great story about family, boys, and how so much can change so quickly, this book has what every girl wants in a summer." - Sarah Dessen, author of Just Listen and Lock and Key.

"If i could live inside this amazing book, I would. I would inhale the ocean air and soak up the sun, and i woul hang out all day with kind-wonderful-funny-awkward Belly and her two known-'em-forever buds, Jeremiah and Conrad. I'd watch the three of them stop being kids and start being more... and I'd hope hope hope that when Belly falls in love-'cause you know she will- she'd give her heart to the exact right boy." -Lauren Myracle, author of the ttyl series and Bliss.

I totally agree. Jeremiah is totally the guy I would pick, though I can see the appeal of Conrad. He's the imperfect one, which is in it's own right perfect.

I liked the book :)

Gah, that sucks. I don't have near enough clothes but I can never find anything I like...

I know what you mean. It's like, you like Jeremiah better, but it's Conrad you'd go to the dance with. Now that I think about it, Basil's a lot like Conrad...0.0

Heh, well, he's outgoing, insanely smart (ninth grade math last year, woo!), hilarious, popular...ya know, like that? He's actually kind of a jerk...and a player...he flirts with everyone...sometimes guys, but only jokingly. He makes funny voices :) He doesn't really like me...well, he hates me. It's weird cuz we're, like, exact opposites. I'm more sarcastic and not as good at math (only advanced math, not intro to functions till next year, puh!)...and I'm more serious...and shy...and I definitely don't flirt with people. He doesn't really take into account other people's feelings, I guess...I don't think I've ever heard him say sorry, but then, he's always joking, never really RUDE, ya know? He seemed kinda depressed towards the end of last year, but I don't know anything about that...huh.
It's weird, though, cuz he's not exactly cute or anything...he's Indian, so dark skin, dark eyes, dark hair...and sometimes he makes weird expressions, ya know, for the sake of humor? They don't really do him justice, haha. But SOMETIMES he looks cute. Sometimes. Huh.
What I meant when I said he was like Conrad was there are tons of other guys that are way nicer, way cuter, way better in general, but he's the one I'd go to the dance with.

Oops, I rambled 0.0

Heh, you ramble at the movies? You're right, that's not a good place to ramble at all.

...how? Sorry, it's just Nat and Lolo made up the name because he was 'spicy'. Hah. It's fun saying that.

Well, usually I do, I'm sorry to admit. It's really just with him. Huh.

Oh, a lot of stuff. It just accumulated over the years...you see, when I started liking him, I acted kinda...mean. I just automatically do that. I really need to grow out of it =.=

Indeed they are, though girls are too. The entire age group is. Heh, cool.

He's really more of a cappuccino...and I don't get it. Sorry. :)

Hmm. Well. I've never actually gotten to know a guy, so I couldn't tell you.

Shucks, I guess I can't respond to ALL of that, but he sounds like a cool guy :) Ugh, I know. I had this crush one time that was, like, four inches shorter than me. It was horrible. I mean, who'd want to stoop down to kiss their guy?

Haha it's okay. Basil is really tall :) which is weird because he's only 3 months older than me. Well, I think it's not that they'd WANT to, but they don't care. Hmm.

I totally agree. That would be nice :)

Actually, most of the guys in my school are fairly tall, and there's this one freakishly tall guy, and Frenchie is my exact height. Yay!

Yeah I am :)

Gawsh, that's the same height as me! That does indeed suck.
